Thika Ecommerce Warehouse
Innovating Thermal Comfort for Sustainable E-commerce Warehousing in Ngoingwa, Thika
This is a project showcasing a e-commerce warehouse that is demonstrates the influence of materials on thermal comfort in Ngoingwa, Thika.
The main design idea for the project was to show that the agricultural produce from farmers around the area can be efficiently stored within cold rooms and still allow workers to work without suffering from hypothermia.
This was done by planning the layout of spaces according to frequency of use and machinery operation and movement. It does have the capability to be fully smart-operated in the future thus increasing efficiency and product preservation.
Circulation around the building was paramount thus it included sunshading devices in form of perforated corten steel bolted to hollow section columns that can still be recycled after the lifecycle of the project.
